Which visa
Patients ordinarily apply for a Medical Visa (MED). One companion ordinarily applies for a Medical Attendant visa. Tourist visas are the wrong instrument if you are coming for an operation — they create problems at the hospital and, sometimes, at immigration.
What the file usually contains
- Passport with six months’ validity and blank pages
- Hospital invitation naming the patient, the attendant, and the specialty
- A brief medical letter (we can draft; your GP or the Indian consultant signs)
- Proof of funds and a return plan
- Photographs to the consulate’s specification
Time
When the invitation is complete, UK applications often clear in 3–10 working days. Gulf and some African posts differ. We will not book non-refundable fares until the visa is in the passport unless you insist, in writing.
